Jay Magers

Jay discovered yoga in 2011 while seeking relief from back pain and a way to quiet his mind after a lifelong military career. What began as a physical practice quickly became a powerful tool for mental clarity, resilience, and navigating life’s challenges. In 2015, he earned his 200-hour RYT certification through Community Yoga with Jacqueline Allen-Magers and Betsy Totty, followed by his 500-hour RYT certification in 2020. Through his training, Jay deepened his connection to peace, spirituality, and the transformative power of yoga. In addition to yoga, Jay is a CrossFit Level 1 Coach, blending strength, mobility, and mindfulness into a unique teaching style. After 29 years of service, he retired from the Army in 2023 and now dedicates his energy to helping others discover a healthier, more meaningful way of life.

Although not currently leading regular classes, Jay has been co-owner of Community Yoga since 2014. He has worked to create and sustain a warm, welcoming space where both teachers and students feel supported. His commitment to the studio ensures that everyone can be present with themselves and their practice in a safe and nurturing environment. Whether in the yoga studio or the gym, Jay thrives on guiding people of all skill levels to that sweet spot where comfort meets challenge—building strength in both body and mind.
